Casson Mann chose to create a sequence of stylised rooms to represent different stages in Fleming’s life. These are conceptual placeholders, representing but not mimicking the time and place, and acting as content vessels. The exhibition uses software and interactive elements to playfully illustrate the content or to offer different ways of looking at familiar ideas – a little black book, a roulette wheel and the world’s first interactive showcase for visitors to explore spy gadgets.

Author, Associate Editor and columnist on The Times, Ben Macintyre (above), has written the book For Your Eyes Only Ian Fleming + James Bond to accompany the exhibition – very much a necessary addition to every Bond enthusiast’s library!

Luckily for those Fleming/Bond enthusiasts who don’t live close to London, The Imperial War Museum exhibition runs until March 1st 2009. As much of the material featured in the exhibition has been loaned by the Fleming family and a number of major Fleming/Bond collectors, it is unlikely we will see an exhibition to equal this ever again, so it’s not to be missed by anyone who considers themselves a serious Ian Fleming/James Bond aficionado!
