Samedi Prop Head from Live And Let Die (1973)
A prop head for the character of Baron Samedi played by Geoffrey
Holder. The realistic prop head of painted latex rubber with glass eyes,
with removable section of skull to reveal inner animatronic components
[not working]. The head was fabricated by American special make-up
effects creator Rick Baker [pictured above left]. Provenance: The
Estate of Geoffrey Holder. 13 X 7 in.

This head is seen on screen in the scene where Baron Samedi has taken
Solitaire (played by Jane Seymour) hostage on San Monique to engage in a
sacrificial voodoo ritual. When Bond (Roger Moore) arrives to rescue
Solitaire, Baron Samedi rises from a grave and Bond shoots him, only to
find that it is a decoy. This head was used as the decoy in this scene,
with the removable section being blown off by the gun. The mechanics
inside the head were used to move the eyes which roll back into the head
after it is shot. |

Samedi Top Hat from Live And Let Die (1973)
A top hat of cream grosgrain, with similar
ribbon, labelled inside “Gencel, 7 Rue Rene Boulanger, Paris...”
Worn by Geoffrey Holder as Baron Samedi in Live And Let Die.
