A large area was
also decked out with over 300 dealers’ stands, offering an eclectic
selection of genre memorabilia for sale, enough to make an Otaku moe
with delight! (that’s Japanese for ‘Fan boy moan with delight!’ by
the way). And as has become the ‘norm’ at these events there were
plenty of STAR WARS Stormtroopers and Jedi patrolling the
area, along with other comic book and Manga characters for free or
charity photo opportunities. Everyone attending, from the celebrity
guests to the fans, seemed to be having an entertaining time, and
that, together with a lot of hard work, is the key element to any
successful event. Although these kinds of gatherings have become big
business now, it’s important that both guests and public leave
feeling they’ve had a fun time and have had value for money. From
what I witnessed outside and inside ‘The Green Room’ I’d say it all
worked admirably.
