BEHIND-THE-SCENES – In addition to its talented international
cast, Goldfinger (1964) was produced by a seasoned crew all
working at the top of their game. (1) Director Guy Hamilton with
Nadja Regin as Bonita during filming of the pre-credit sequence.
(2) Returning to the series after a one film absence was
Production Designer Ken Adam, pictured on the massive Fort Knox
gold vault set at Pinewood Studios. (3) Also returning to the
series after a one film absence was stunt co-ordinator Bob
Simmons, pictured (left) with stuntman Alf Joint during the
filming of the pre-credit fight sequence. (4) James Bond author
Ian Fleming visited the set of Goldfinger at Pinewood
Studios in March 1964, and was escorted by co-producers Harry
Saltzman & Albert R. Broccoli. (5) BAFTA Award-winning
cinematographer Ted Moore with Sean Connery on the Latin American
nightclub set during filming of the pre-credit sequence of
Goldfinger. (6) Influential American-born British based
graphic designer Robert Brownjohn, who had created the memorable
main title sequence for From Russia With Love (1963),
returned to design the equally iconic main titles for
Goldfinger [pictured with Margaret Nolan as the golden girl in
the titles], that went on to win the Design and Art Direction
Gold Award (Black Pencil) in 1965. |
