Octopussy
(1983) Gobinda's Sabre with Elephant Hilt |
|
Gobinda's (Kabir Bedi)
sabre from Octopussy (1983). Gobinda wielded an elephant-hilted
sabre against James Bond (Roger Moore) during a circus train sequence,
decapitating a gorilla suit and then pursuing Bond along the train roof.
The sword is made of aluminium and has a curved blade with a dulled edge
and an ornate quillon block. The hilt is intricately engraved in the style
of an elephant, featuring eyes, ears, a headdress and a wrinkled tusk. The
head of the elephant forms the pommel of the sword and the tusk forms the
knuckle guard. Some indented sections of the hilt have darkened through
oxidation. Dimensions: 86 cm X 12.5 cm X 4 cm (34" X 5" X 1 1/2").

The front cover of the paper program reads “OCTOPUSSY'S CIRCUS” in yellow
and the overline “Next Performance KARL-MARX-STADT” in white. It features
an image of a clown against a red and blue background. The program
displays light signs of wear, including a small tear and slight curling at

Octopussy
(1983) Maurice Binder Archive: Collection of Six Film Cans & Rolls |
|
A collection of six film
cans containing 35mm film rolls from the production and promotion of
Octopussy (1983). Film title designer
Maurice Binder used these film
rolls and trims to create the theatrical trailers and, most memorably, its
opening credits sequence. Binder designed the opening titles of 14 James
Bond movies, beginning with Dr. No, and was responsible for
creating the iconic gun barrel sequence that has opened most Bond films to
date.
Each of these six metal film cans displays a “National Screen” label
adhered to its lid, along with labels featuring handwritten notes and
descriptions of the contents. The cans exhibit extensive rusting from age,
while the celluloid remains in good condition, with only a few rolls
showing signs of age. A lid on the can labelled “New TV Main” is stuck
shut due to rust. Dimensions (largest): 36.5 cm X 36.5 cm X 4.5 cm (14

for production, leaving only the perforated stub, and the edges of the
paper-covered spine have begun to unstick. Dimensions: 10.5 cm X 17.5 cm X

|
James Bond's (Timothy

(Anthony Zerbe) ship and ruined Franz Sanchez's (Robert Davi) latest drug
shipment.
This Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) vest is made of grey and black nylon,
and features red trims, black webbing straps and plastic buckles. It is
labelled size “S” and also features a plastic backplate, a

|
A set of Casino De
Isthmus City casino chips and a drink stirrer from Licence To Kill

the Casino De Isthmus City in order to catch drug baron Sanchez's (Robert
Davi) attention.
The lot comprises four round poker chips, each coloured purple, grey,
green, pink and blue, with its value printed in black at the centre; one
rectangular blue chip worth “$5,000”; one rectangular white chip worth

printed in gold inside its circular tip. All the items are made of plastic
and exhibit a layer of glue residue on one side from previously being held
in a display. Dimensions (largest chip): 7.5 cm X 11.5 cm X 0.5 cm (3" X 4

Lot #1271 Licence
To Kill
(1989) Peter Nelson Collection* Bond's Passport Photo, Business Card and
X-ray Polaroid |
|
James Bond's passport photo and
business card, and an X-ray Polaroid, from Licence To Kill (1989).
When CIA agent Pam Bouvier (Carey Lowell) took a photo with Q's (Desmond
Llewelyn) Polaroid camera, she accidentally shot a laser beam from it. The
resulting picture showed an infrared image of James Bond (Timothy Dalton)
and Q dodging the laser beam.
This production-made Polaroid shows a slightly different crop of the
infrared image seen on screen. Accompanying it is a small passport
portrait of Bond and a “Universal Exports” business card, which features
007's full name handwritten at the bottom in black pen. The lot exhibits
discolouration, surface marks and peeling of the Polaroid from production
use and age. Dimensions (Polaroid): 10.5 cm X 10 cm (4 1/4" X 4").
Estimate: £700 - £1,400 SOLD FOR £1,125

Lot #1272 GoldenEye
(1995) Statue Horse Head |
|
A statue horse head from
GoldenEye (1995). After arriving in St. Petersburg, James Bond
(Pierce Brosnan) hunted General Ourumov (Gottfried John) down in a tank.
During the chase, Bond crashed the tank through a horse statue. The
fractured part of the statue, which included the head, landed on top of
the two Russian police cars that pursued him.
The head is made of plaster, painted green and grey to have the appearance
of a metal statue. Notable details include the horse's reins, gag bit, and
slightly curled mane. There is a metal frame inside the head to maintain
its shape. The lot exhibits chips throughout the surface of the horse's
head, and the right-sided ear is partially broken. Dimensions: 126 cm X
106 cm X 54.5 cm (49 1/2" X 41 3/4" X 21 1/2").
Estimate: £1,000 - £2,000 SOLD FOR £2,000 |
|
Lot #1273 GoldenEye
(1995) Hand-drawn Syd Cain Satellite Concept Sketches |
|
Two hand-drawn
Syd Cain
concept sketches from the production of GoldenEye (1995). Eminent
art director and production designer Cain worked on many Bond films,
including Dr. No (1962), From Russia With Love (1963) and
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), and is credited as a
storyboard artist on GoldenEye (1995). He also worked with Alfred
Hitchcock as the production designer on Frenzy (1972). These
sketches originally came from Cain's personal archives.
The first sketch depicts the GoldenEye satellite weapon deteriorating in
space after being destroyed, and is mounted on black paper. The second
sketch depicts a different satellite sending and receiving rays. The
sketches are predominantly rendered in pencil, though the GoldenEye
satellite sketch features some painted elements. Each piece features
Cain's name and a reference number. Dimensions (largest sketch): 42 X 29.5
(16 1/2" X 11 1/2").
Estimate: £1,500 - £3,000 SOLD FOR £5,312.50 |
|
Lot #1278 Tomorrow
Never Dies (1997) James Bond's Stunt AR-18 Rifle |
|
James Bond's (Pierce
Brosnan) stunt AR-18 rifle from Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). Bond
used his assault rifle during the opening scenes at the weapons bazaar, as
he hijacked a fighter jet armed with nuclear weapons to avoid catastrophe.
This stunt weapon is made of rubber with a metal armature. It is a heavily
modified version of the ArmaLite AR-18 assault rifle, with a shortened
barrel and magazine, an altered stock and a fabric shoulder strap. This
style of weapon can be seen briefly as Bond disarms a terrorist. The rifle
has some wear from age and use, including discolouration along the barrel
and cracked rubber around the trigger guard, while the end of the barrel
is missing. Dimensions: 78 cm X 4.5 cm X 18 cm (30 3/4" X 1 3/4" X 7")
Estimate: £2,000 - £4,000 SOLD FOR £2,500 |
|
Lot #1278 Tomorrow
Never Dies (1997) Wai Lin Model Miniature Scuba Diver |
|
A Wai Lin (Michelle Yeoh)
model miniature scuba diver from Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). James
Bond (Pierce Brosnan) and Wai Lin used an inflatable boat to board
Carver's (Jonathan Pryce) stealth ship.
This miniature figure, created in the likeness of
Michelle Yeoh, was made
for filming wide-shot scenes of Bond and Lin on the inflatable boat in
Saigon. Ultimately these scenes did not make it into the film's final cut.
The figure features a resin head with black faux hair and a black silicone
scuba-suited body with a solid interior up to the knees and completely
flexible calves and flippers. A wood, metal, and plastic scuba breathing
tank is affixed to the back, and a pair of separate resin hands attached
to metal tubes, which at one point would have fitted into the suit's
silicone sleeve, accompany the model. Also included are three printed
photographs illustrating the scene the model is for. The model exhibits
dust from age and indentations and warping to the silicone from wear and
storage. Dimensions: (model) 24 cm X 5 cm X 5 cm (9 1/2" X 2" X 2").
Estimate: £400 - £800 SOLD FOR £1,250 |
|
Lot #1283 Three

The World Is Not Enough (1999) and
Die Another Day (2002). The
German P99 pistol was later was replaced in favour of the previously used
Walther PPK.
The black pistol is cast in foam rubber, featuring a textured grip and the
manufacturer's markings. This stunt weapon would have been used for action
scenes, or for scenes when the gun was holstered, for both safety and
convenience. Dimensions: 17.5 cm X 15 cm X 3 cm (7" X 6" X 1 1/4").
Estimate: £2,000 - £4,000 SOLD FOR £4,375

caviar pots from The World Is Not Enough (1999). When Bond (Pierce

factory, pots could be seen sitting on a shelf. These pots fell to the
floor when Bond slammed Zukovsky into the shelf.
The glass pots have metal lids that feature the red Zukovsky caviar
company sticker labels. They are permanently sealed, and some contain
imitation caviar. Dimensions (Large pot): 7.5 cm X 7.5 cm X 4.5 cm (3" X
3" X 1 3/4").

Lot #1290 Die Another Day (2002)
Gustav Graves’ Hero Headset |
|
Gustav Graves’ (Toby
Stephens) hero headset from Die Another Day (2002). The headset was
part of an exoskeleton that Graves used to control the Icarus orbital
solar weapon.
Made primarily of grey resin, the headset consists of a headband with a
foam pad at the front and an adjustable Velcro strip at the rear.
Translucent frameless double lenses are connected to the headband via a
hinge, and a separate clear plastic housing contains rectangular screen
inserts. It features several electrical wires, which extend around the
headset's nose bridge and connect to the front and sides of the headband.
The headset is contained in a grey briefcase in two sections that were
combined for use in the film, and minor elements such as screws are
absent. The lot exhibits minor signs of wear and sympathetic restoration,
and its functionality is untested. Dimensions (case): 41 cm X 34 cm X 19
cm (16" X 13 1/2" X 7 1/2"); (headset): 29 cm X 18 cm X 7.5 cm (11 1/2" X

Isla Los Organos clinic. She used it again during the film's climax after
she and James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) infiltrated Gustav Graves’ (Toby
Stephens) plane.
The pistol - a Beretta 84FS “Cheetah” - is crafted from resin with a metal
armature. The handle's grip is painted brown on both sides to look like
wood. As the pistol is visible in several close-up shots, it was designed
to appear as realistic as possible, with engravings that detail its model
and magazine specifications. Dimensions: 16.5 cm X 11.5 cm X 3 cm (6 1/2"
