PROPSTORE Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction:
London 14-17 November 2024

Many significant James Bond props and costumes are to be auctioned in London by PROPSTORE as part of their Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction from 14-17 November 2024. A four-day live-streamed event will sell iconic film and TV memorabilia including props and costumes from the James Bond films 1962-2021 (and a few non-film related items).

Listed below are some of the more significant James Bond related items, many of which have never been offered in auction before.

Pair of Film Cans The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)

Pair of film cans containing 35mm rolls from the production of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) The cans contain frames of Roger Moore, who played James Bond, performing the iconic gunbarrel logo action. Both cans exhibit rusting from age. Dimensions (largest can): 26.75cm  26.75cm  4.75cm (10.5" X 10.5" X 2")

*007 MAGAZINE Editor's note: This lot appears to be main title/trailer designer Maurice Binder's original elements for ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ teaser trailer featuring the red gunbarrel, and unique studio footage of Roger Moore walking towards camera and addressing the audience. The elements were then composited by The National Screen Service (the company that supplied publicity materials to UK cinemas) on an optical printer with clips from the film to create the teaser trailer.

Miniature Astronaut Laser Rifle Moonraker (1979)

A miniature astronaut laser rifle from Moonraker (1979). Miniature versions of laser rifle-wielding US Marines were used for certain shots during the climactic battle against Drax's (Michael Lonsdale) space-station guards.

Fabricated by a member of the production's visual effects team, headed by renowned visual effects supervisor Derek Meddings, this resin miniature rifle was based on an IMI Uzi submachine gun, like the life-sized rifles used in other shots. Dimensions: 16.5cm X 3cm X 8.75cm (6.5" X 1.25" X 3.5")

Collection of Silver Gelatin Production Photographs For Your Eyes Only (1981)

A collection of silver gelatin photographs from the production of For Your Eyes Only (1981). This lot comes from the personal collection of renowned stills photographer Keith Hamshere.

This lot comprises 111 photographs from the production, 106 of which are black-and-white silver gelatin prints and five are colour prints. They feature stars Roger Moore (James Bond), Carole Bouquet (Melina Havelock), Chaim Topol (Milos Columbo), Lynn-Holly Johnson (Bibi Dahl) and Julian Glover (Aristotle Kristatos). Most have a handwritten numbers on the back alongside Hamshere's stamp. A few of the photographs have a sticky residue on the front. Dimensions (each): 24.5cm X 16.5cm (9.75" X 6.5")

Set of Three Hand-drawn For Your Eyes Only Marvel Super Special  #19 Pages

A set of three hand-drawn comic pages by Howard Chaykin for the comic book adaptation of For Your Eyes Only (1981). Marvel Comics produced the adaptation, which was written by Larry Hama, pencilled by Chaykin, inked by Vincent Colletta and edited by Dennis O'Neil. The work was initially published as issue #19 of Marvel Comics Super Special and was later released as a two-issue adaptation in October and November 1981.

The pages are rendered in black ink and there are also areas of corrective fluid and pencil marks. The pages have some staining, remnants of sticky tape and ink blotting on the reverse. Dimensions (each): 40cm X 27cm (15.75" X 10.5")

Jungle Spider Octopussy (1983)

A jungle spider from Octopussy (1983). James Bond (Roger Moore) fled through the jungle as he was hunted by Kamal Khan (Louis Jourdan) and his men. During the chase, Bond ran into a giant web populated with large jungle spiders, one of which clung to his forearm.

The spider is made of rubber, painted accordingly and embellished with faux hair. Its lightweight design would have enabled it to remain attached to the spider web in the film. Dimensions: 12cm X 8.25cm X 2.75cm (4.75" X 3.25" X 1")

Kara Milovy's (Maryam d'Abo) Stunt Ski Jacket The Living Daylights (1987)

Kara Milovy's (Maryam d'Abo) stunt jacket from The Living Daylights (1987). Milovy wore a grey ski jacket as she and James Bond (Timothy Dalton) escaped from Bratislava into Austria, eluding the KGB and Czech police by tobogganing on a cello case.

FILA-branded, this jacket features detachable sleeves and a faux fur collar. The exterior and inner lining are made of cotton and polyamide, while the jacket's padding is polyester. The left arm exhibits faint staining.

A set of nine promotional stills featuring Timothy Dalton from Licence To Kill (1989). This lot comes from the personal collection of renowned stills photographer Keith Hamshere.

This lot comprises nine photographs - one of which is a duplicate - from a promotional photoshoot with Dalton in character as Bond. Five feature him armed with a pistol in a black shirt and trousers, and four feature him in an intentionally distressed suit and with a bloodied face. An image from this photoshoot appeared on several of the posters promoting the film, although that is not one of the photos included in this lot. The photos are printed on Fujichrome paper. Dimensions (each): 40.5cm X 30.5cm (16" X 12")

Franz Sanchez's (Robert Davi) Suit Licence To Kill (1989)

Franz Sanchez's (Robert Davi) suit from Licence To Kill (1989). Drug lord Sanchez wore his suit during the film's finale, when his base was consumed by fire.

The label on the jacket's inner pocket reads “R. Davi Fire Suit Coat”, and the label in the waistband of the trousers reads “R. Davi Fire Suit Pants”. The trousers feature a solid brass buckle on which “Cub Scouts BSA” is engraved. There is some minor staining from production use on the right sleeve and lapel.

Set of Four Hand-drawn Daily Express Comic Strip Panels by John McLusky

A set of four hand-drawn Daily Express comic strip panels by John McLusky. Starting in July 1958, the Daily Express newspaper published daily serialized James Bond comic strips, starting with CASINO ROYALE. These four strips are numbers 78 to 81 consecutively and feature hand-drawn artwork by McLusky. The artwork is rendered mostly in black ink and there are also areas of corrective fluid, pencil marks, and sections adhered to the board from another page. The panels have some minor wear, including discolouration and staining. Dimensions: 14cm X 42.5cm (5.5" X 16.75")

M's (Bernard Lee) Screen-matched Framed HMS Glory Picture (various productions)

M's (Bernard Lee) screen-matched framed HMS Glory picture from multiple James Bond films. M displayed the embroidered picture of the pre-dreadnought battleship in his office where he regularly held meetings with 007. The picture screen-matches most clearly to You Only Live Twice though notable marks around the frame and the shape of the smoke trails on the image.

The picture appeared in a total of 10 James Bond films: From Russia With Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967, On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), The Man With The Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), and A View To A Kill (1985). The wood frame has some wear from use and age and the back of the frame has some string for hanging and some handwritten notes. Dimensions: 41cm X 52.5cm X 2 cm (16.25" X 20.75" X 0.75")

Acmade 35mm Picture Sync Film Editor (various productions)

An Acmade 35mm Picture Sync Film Editor used in post-production for various films in the James Bond franchise. These include Moonraker (1979), Octopussy (1981), The Living Daylights (1987), Licence To Kill (1989), as well as Jim Henson's Labyrinth (1986) and Andrew V. McLaglen's war drama The Sea Wolves (1980).

This metal machine and accompanying wooden amplifier speaker still function when their leads are connected to a power source. When used together, the machine can sync film frames with the appropriate sound from the speaker. The machine also features a frame counter, frame viewer, four audio tracks, and one film track. “John Grover Badingham Films Ltd.” has been handwritten in black marker pen on one end of the machine and the back of the amplifier. Also included is a wooden plaque that reads “James Bond Film Editing Machine”. Dimensions (editing machine): 75cm X 24.5cm X 29cm (29.5" X 9.75" X 11.5")
