PENGUIN Centenary Edition UK Paperbacks 2009-2010

On May 29, 2008 as part of the Ian Fleming Centenary, Penguin Books published new limited edition hardback versions of the author's James Bond novels. Paperback editions were then issued throughout the following year. The cover artwork by Michael Gillette (inspired by Robert McGinnis's iconic 1967 poster for Casino Royale) was identical to the hardback edition. The print-run for each title was limited to 5,000 copies, with a retail price of Ł7.99.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY Published 2nd June 2010	MOONRAKER Published 29th October 2010	In 2010 Michael Gillette painted an additional cover for the Portuguese Contraponto edition of FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, which was re-titled QUANTUM OF SOLACE to tie in with Daniel Craig's second film as James Bond.

In addition to creating an a new cover for the Portuguese Contraponto edition of QUANTUM OF SOLACE in 2010, Michael Gillette was later commissioned by German publisher Cross Cult to paint new artwork in a similar style for exclusive paperback editions of the continuation novels written by Robert Markham (Kingsley Amis) and John Gardner. COLONEL SUN was published in September 2014, with the last title, GOLDENEYE, not issued until June 2024.

Cross Cult have also published translated versions of the Ian Fleming titles (including a box set containing all 14 titles pictured above right), with the cover artwork featuring the German title of the novel. The German Cross Cult paperbacks of THUNDERBALL and ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE both feature different artwork to the UK original Penguin editions. Although the Cross Cult James Bond continuation novels also bore the German translation of the original titles, Michael Gillette sold several limited edition prints with the original English title from his website that were officially licensed by Ian Fleming Publications Ltd.
