Over the years, GRAHAM RYE and 007 MAGAZINE have organised a number of James Bond conventions and themed events - take a look back at the early days of 007 ‘fandom’.

1981 Event

1981 – The James Bond British Fan Club International Convention at The Westmoreland Hotel at Lords.

GUESTS: Desmond Llewelyn, Walter Gotell, Sue Vanner, Cassandra Harris (accompanied by husband Pierce Brosnan), Alkis Kritikos, Maurice Binder, Burt Kwouk, Wing Commander Ken Wallis (with ‘Little Nellie’), ‘James Bond In The Cinema’ author John Brosnan, Don McLauchlan (Lotus Cars Limited).


1982 Event

1982 – The James Bond British Fan Club International Convention at The Wembley Conference Centre.

GUESTS: Peter Hunt, Maurice Binder, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, John McLusky, Syd Cain, and Fred Haggerty.


1989 Event

1989 – Licence To Kill Press Screening at the ODEON Leicester Square and launch of the first edition of Graham Rye’s book The James Bond Girls.

1990 Event

1990 – Thunderball 25th Anniversary screening at The National Film Theatre.

GUESTS: Terence Young, Molly Peters, George Leech, John Stears, Syd Cain, Maurice Binder, Claudine Auger. The screening was followed by a private anniversary dinner at Oscar’s Wine Bar in Leicester Square, attended by the celebrity guests.


1990 Pinewood Event

1990 – The James Bond 007 International Fan Club Weekend Convention at Pinewood Studios featuring the largest collection of James Bond props ever assembled!

GUESTS: Desmond Llewelyn, Maurice Binder, Peter Lamont, Syd Cain, Molly Peters, Wing Commander Ken Wallis, Carole Ashby, and Oscar-winner John Stears.


1992 NFT Event

1992 – Special screening of You Only Live Twice and On Her Majesty's Secret Service at The National Film Theatre.

1992 Pinewood Event

1992 – James Bond In The Cinema 30th Anniversary Event at Pinewood Studios.

GUESTS: Madeline Smith, Paul Weston, George Leech, Derek Meddings, Iris Rose, Vladek Sheybal, Desmond Llewelyn, Burt Luxford, Joe Fitt, Jan Williams, Peter Lamont, Syd Cain, Iris Rose, Wing Commander Ken Wallis (with ‘Little Nellie’).


1993 NFT Event

1993 – The James Bond 007 International Fan Club at The National Film Theatre ‘Bond at the BBC’ (screening of Whicker’s World – the making of You Only Live Twice and Omnibus – Ian Fleming Creator of the James Bond Myth).


1993 Pinewood Event

1993 – The James Bond 007 Fan Club ‘Diamonds Are Forever 22-Carat Christmas Special Lunch’, Pinewood Studios (held partly in aid of Guide Dogs For The Blind).

1994 Pinewood Event

1994 – The James Bond 007 Fan Club On Her Majesty’s Secret Service Christmas Lunch, Pinewood Studios.

1995 Planet Hollywood Event

1995 – The James Bond 007 Fan Club celebrate the new James Bond film GoldenEye and the re-publication of Graham Rye’s book The James Bond Girls at Planet Hollywood, London.

GUESTS: Joe Robinson, Eunice Gayson, Kate Gayson, Norman Wanstall.

1996 Pinewood Event

1996 – The James Bond 007 International Fan Club 4th Annual Christmas Lunch (Gold theme), Pinewood Studios.

GUESTS: Christopher Lee, Shirley Eaton, Tania Mallet, Guy Hamilton, Norman Wanstall, Lois Maxwell and Desmond Llewelyn.  All 200 JB007FC members attending this event were each given a ‘surprise’ ticket to attend the Cubby Broccoli memorial event at the ODEON Leicester Square the following day.


1997 Event

1997 – The James Bond 007 International Fan Club 5th Annual Christmas Lunch celebrates the opening of the new James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies and the re-publication of Graham Rye’s book The James Bond Girls at Planet Hollywood, London.
GUESTS: Shirley Eaton and Caroline Munro.

1998 – The James Bond 007 International Fan Club 6th Annual Lunch (You Only Live Twice theme), Pinewood Studios.

1999 Event

1999 – The James Bond 007 International Fan Club 7th Christmas Lunch, Café de Paris, London. Celebrate the opening of the new James Bond film The World Is Not Enough and launched the re-publication of Graham Rye’s all-new pictorial edition of his book The James Bond Girls.
GUESTS: Martine Beswicke, Molly Peters, Jan Williams, Sarah Donohue.
200 JB007IFC ticket holders attended Press Screening of The World Is Not Enough.


2005 Event

2005 – James Bond comic strip artist HORAK attends a signing at The Cinema Store and Reception at Kettners Restaurant in London.
